Happenings in 2015

A project is underway to update all ministry and program publicatons in both English and Spanish.  As part of this project, a new "Celebrations of Marriage" program has been developed.  It combines the previous "Support Group" and "Renewal" programs.  This new Celebrations program has at-parish and in-homes presentation options.  It can be a used as the main parish marriage minisry or as a start-up or follow-up program. 

A project is underway to provide a set of alternative videos for program presentations. Video selection criteria as well as review and approval processes have been established.   Video suggestions and requests for information should be forwarded to the Board of Directors.  (please see the Materials/Videos Section on this website.) 

 

The ministry website update project is continuing.  Recent improvements have include a process for sending suggestions for alternative videos, and on-line processes for submitting Sponsorship Program Fees and donations.  

The recent Ministry Strategic Planning Process focused in part on ministry outreach.  Several new resulting initiatives are now underway:

  • An new inititive us being undertaken to more fully integrate the ministry programs in to the the sacramental life of parishes.  This should help parishes in their efforts as marrriage-builders.    
  • Program Leadership Meetings will now be held several times a year.  They will involve all activie and other interested parishes.  The goal is to generate new ideas and approaches as well as improve communication and coordination throughout the ministry.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Completed 42 years of ministry enriching and strengthening the vocation of marriage.

 

  • 26,000 couples have participated sine ministry inception (first-time participants).  In 2016, 260 couples were first-time participants.

 

  • 1,400 major program presentations (Weekends, Experience, and Retreats) since ministry inception. In 2016, there were 15 major program prsentations, 520 Marriage Celebrations gathering, and 135 other meeting and events.

 

  • 122 churches have sponsored the ministry since inception.  in 2015, 19 churches sponsored the ministry in 13 communities and 4 states.

 

  • 100 percent volunteer organization.
